Always at this time of year there are lots of countdowns and “best of” features in media, but I’ve noticed the particular plethora of them this year. Maybe because it is the end of a decade as well? Regardless I’m always drawn to them, even if I’m afraid they might be cheesy. I really believe in the value of looking back as you look forward.
So throughout the wedding season of 2009, I’ve had this idea in the back of my mind. I’ll notice something at a wedding that just really stands out to me as fantastic. Maybe it was Sara’s freaking fantastic hairdo. or the bumpin’ dance floor at Lauren & Mike’s wedding. Or the food at Rebeccah & Peter’s that actually made me want to take up cooking (and if you know me, and the fact that I have a husband who is a wonderful and efficient cook, you know that cooking is not really on my radar). Anyway I’ve made these little mental notes all year long about such details, and have made an attempt here to highlight the “best of” 2009 NMD weddings.
I can’t really look back on all of these weddings without mentioning how I feel so blessed to have had such a busy, successful year with 22 weddings under my belt in 2009. I’ve met so many wonderful people and I am so very grateful for each of you– for supporting my photography, for sharing your passion, for trusting me to document some of the most important moments of your lives. I truly have to pinch myself sometimes- I’ll be “working” at some great party or another and go “is this really real?! Is this really how I make my living now?!” It’s fantastic.
