Addie

Since I first heard the fabulous Stephen Kellogg this fall when he opened for Josh Ritter at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, I’ve thought of my sensitive, ecstatic, miserable, wonderful Addie when I hear his song “Sweet Sophia” written for his daughter. (He’s good on record. He’s ah-mazing live.)

With a fierce disposition like the beat of a drum / you get hurt more than others but you have more fun / I can’t make it stop so the love keeps on growing / and if it kills me today I’ll be better off for knowing / Sweet Sophia, girl one look at you and I was hooked / Sweet Sophia, burned all the pages and rewrote the book with your heart shaped lips and my breath that you took
