So excited that one of my favorite ever families has a brand new home, and I got to spend an afternoon playing outside with them. What an amazing yard for Elise and Ian to grow up exploring! I wanted to stay all day and climb on rocks, water flowers, and swing on the swingset. Here are a couple of my favorite shots from our day.
Earlier this month I finally did a full, real session with Angela, one of my very closest friends since we were college roommates. She is an incredibly talented painter, and we traded this session for a big, beautiful painting which takes center stage in my living room. Once I properly frame it later this summer I will share it here! Here are a couple of my favorites from her session.
Advice brought to you from Kristy, a longtime client who *always* hits a home run in styling her family for photos. They always look pulled together, coordinating but not matchy-matchy, and most importantly they look like themselves, not cutouts from everyone else’s photo session. I asked Kristy if she’d write a little something to go along with the blogpost from their most recent session- Bennett’s One Year session at the Wiggly Bridge in York. Here’s what she says:
“Besides having a great photographer, I always try to pick colorful yet coordinated outfits for the family. Typically, I have at least one outfit in mind then base the others off of that. I love it when each outfit pulls a color out of the other either in a different shade or pattern. The canvas/pictures on the wall really look great with nice bold rich colors. Having props is always a great distraction! Besides being FUN, the balloons kept the baby happy and the bubbles saved me from a uncooperative toddler! (But you can’t tell because I have such a great photographer!).”
So there you have it! I hope this helps you to put together exactly the right look for your photos. I like that Kristy thinks ahead to how the photos will look on display (her home is FULL of my photos all over the place and it is so fun to go over there and see them all!)
To see previous sessions of Kristy and her family….
they started with maternity for Hadley
followed by Hadley’s first year- newborn, mini session, six months, another mini, one year. Kristy pulled all of these sessions together to make an album for Hadley’s First Year– for herself and a copy for a gift for her mom.
Wow guys. I have fallen SO behind on my blogging. So behind. So I decided to work backwards to catch up, at least then being up to date with my most recent sessions.
This weekend Amanda invited me back to her home (after their lovely newborn session last winter) to document a true lifestyle photo session… I joined Amanda, Isaac, and Josh for a typical afternoon, including a walk outside in the carrier, playing on the floor with toys, nursing together in bed, taking a shower and bath (she has a special baby wrap designed for water! How cool (literally) is that? How that would have helped during the summer that Lilah was new…), and finally snuggles before nap time. What an honor to be included in these most intimate moments, and how grateful Amanda and Josh will be to have these photos to remember their daily lives during Isaac’s babyhood.
